Matthew Carroll is an award-winning, veteran Creative Director/Art Director.

He has spent two decades at Wieden+Kennedy Portland building and reinventing brands like KFC, Old Spice, Fisher-Price, Velveeta, Facebook, Uber, Yoplait, Visa and more. Drawing on his background as an interactive technologist and graphic designer, his work not only includes traditional advertising but also social, apps, games, products, events, branding and short-form documentaries.

As a creative director, Matthew has led teams on Visa, Allstate, Samsung, Facebook, Travel Oregon, Autodesk, Fisher-Price and P&G.

The focus of his work is to help brands achieve cultural relevance by developing true, provocative and relevant brand platforms that lead to breakthrough creative in any media.

Before W+K, Matthew worked at design and digital agencies in Portland, Los Angeles and Austin. He aslo taught typography and graphic design as an an adjunct professor at Portland State University.

He holds a MFA from Art Center College of Design, Pasadena and a BBA in International Business from St. Mary’s University, San Antonio. He received an Entrepreneurial Fellowship for a knowledge-based social network at California Institute of Technology.

Matthew has won industry awards including Cannes Lions, Webby Awards, Effies, Clios, AICP Next, D&AD and One Show.

His work has been featured in Fast Company, Fortune, Time Magazine, Hypebeast, Popsugar, USA Today and talked about on Late Night with Seth Myers and on NPR’s Wait Wait Don’t Tell Me.
